Good Habits 101
“The most practical way to change who you are is to change what you do.” ~ James Clear
I have just started reading James Clear’s book “Atomic Habits” and am maybe only ⅓ of the way through, but have learned so much already and I am using that gained knowledge to make small changes in my habits.
(Trust me… I have lots of not-so-great habits that can use some work! I am a work in progress just like you.)
Bad habits can be hard to break and good habits hard to create. The common factor for doing both is the TIME involved.
It is so easy to underestimate how much difference one small daily change can make over time and I believe that is what stops us - the length of time it takes to see a positive change. We get frustrated because the media has conditioned us to expect INSTANT gratification so we stop before we see the positive benefits which is usually too soon.
Look at the good habits you would like to be consistent with - like the new daily simple self-care routine you want to create in 2021. Pick one activity and start doing it.
KEEP DOING IT DAILY. Don’t give up as the big improvement you are hoping to see may just be a day away! This one consistent new change will build on itself over time and new good habits will continue to take place. Trust me! Amazing things will happen.
