By working on increasing my awareness of my behaviors and patterns, I am beginning to see how my down moods and non-productive time periods come to life and take hold of me.

Patterns are emerging and I can see the beginning choices that start the slow swirl leading to getting mired in my muck (the "stinking thinking") of my own making.

A no-so-good choice here and there slowly starts the journey down that path where I end up using so much energy fighting the symptoms of mild depression - fatigue, apathy, lack of motivation, negativity - just to get my work done and be the Wife and Mom I want to be.

I miss one day of self-care (could be a simple as not doing a 15 minute walk) and then the next day, I’m too busy and find another excuse not to do my simple self-care and before you know it the pattern has begun and repeats itself over and over again.

It’s been an epiphany. My increased awareness is helping me see how this annoying regular pattern emerges. This increase of awareness is restoring my freedom to choose which path I want to travel on and it sure the heck is NOT that one!

My promise to myself… walk every day even it is only to the end of the street and back and even if it is right before I go to bed.

I. Will. Walk. Every. Day.

Being aware. Being intentional and stopping my past patterns from imposing on me.
