“How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
This can be a good reminder when you are faced with a BIG project that overwhelms you or seems really intimidating.
Oddly enough, I’ve been finding myself using that quote with my daughters. When we started our yard project of cleaning out the flower beds and garden, back in March, they started whining, “How will we ever get that done?” “It’s going to take so long!” “How can we do ALL that?”
Yes, the same questions were going through my mind as well - but of course, I did NOT tell them that.
I have a history getting overwhelmed with big projects, and have learned to break them down into small “bites”. When one bite is done, I move on to the next one, and eventually, the project gets done! What a great empowering feeling. I'm getting more accomplished now than every before!
Before I used that little bite method, I would get so overwhelmed and intimidated and I never actually completed the projects. Doesn’t make for a productive life.
So, when you are feeling overwhelmed with a big project or deadline, take a pause, break the project into “bites”, and start with one small bite at a time.
Be strong. Be healthy.
Keep up your self-care!
