“The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.

~ Nathaniel Branden

I want to focus on the AWARENESS  aspect of the quote today.

We don’t know what we don’t know so this is where awareness comes in. How can we fix something or make something better IF we don’t know that there is an issue or problem to begin with?

This past week I have been doing some reflection and I started thinking about the day almost 11 years ago when I was in the kitchen with my 2 daughters. It was July of 2009 and it had only been 6 months since our family grew from 2 to 4!

My daughters were only 2 and 4 years old at the time and I knew things were pretty stressful with all of us adjusting to being a new family, but I thought I was “doing OK” and “just fine”.

One of the girls said or did something that frustrated me and I ended up going outside for a Mommy-Moment. I sat down on a chair on our deck and started to cry … and cry … and cry. My stress had gotten out of control! To think I had thought I was doing OK with my stress, but in truth, my stress awareness was very low.

Do YOU know where your stress level is at? Do you have a good awareness of YOUR stress level? Wouldn’t you like to do something about your stress level before you end up in a crisis? I wish I had.

To get some stress awareness … take this online stress quiz. You’ll not only get a stress score and some suggestions on next steps, but you’ll have gained some stress awareness.

Stay well my friends and keep working on stressing less!

Be strong. Be healthy.

Keep up your self-care!
