Put that stress down NOW!

In the long term, the stress response is MORE damaging than the things that triggered the stress in the first place. Just like the quote says, “It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

 

We all need a break from carrying our stress. No! A stress break is NOT that one day off a week or month. Yes! Regular, short stress breaks during the day, every day are ideal.

 

Imagine carrying a heavy box from one place to another that is over one mile apart. (No, Uber is not an option!) Do you think you would put it down once and a while to give yourself a break to rest and recharge? I sure would. What's the alternative? ... you will probably never make it to where you want to go.

Why is carrying your stress load any different than that heavy box? If you don't put your stress load down once in awhile, you will probably not make it to where you want to go ... in this case, old age. Isn't that a sobering thought?!

 

All it takes is one minute of deep breathing and wiggling your toes or maybe a short 5-10 minute walk or writing your to-do list on a piece of paper to get it out of your head. Simple, right?! Easy, right?! What is stopping you from taking a stress break?

 

Be strong. Be healthy.
