Expectations

One of the happiest moments in my life is when I find the courage to let go of what I cannot change. ~ Unknown

As the holidays approach and we rush around to get ready for the celebrations, figuring out family visits, planning time with friends, and buying gifts, please take a moment or two.. or three to pause, be still, and just breathe.

Ask yourself,  are my expectations and hopes for this holiday season realistic? Am I hoping for things to be more than what they are?

Please understand… I am not trying to dash any hopes or the joy of this wonderful season!

Lately, I have been watching my 15 year old daughter’s expectations for planned events or special times not being met. She ends up very disappointed and frustrated.

I wonder if she could step back for a moment and make her expectations a little more fluid and flexible, and accepting of things she cannot change, she would be happier in these situations and not so disgruntled.

This is not an easy thing to do and it has taken me a looong time to understand this concept of letting things go as expectations were not met.

My self-care mission for you this week is to take a few moments to examine your expectations for this upcoming season and accept what you can not change and find more joy and love within yourself. Rejoice who YOU are and let those hurtful expectations go.

Big Hugs,  Rita 🙂
