“As you grow older, you will discover you have two hands - one for helping yourself, the other for helping others”.
~ Audrey Hepburn
Life is busy! There is no denying that fact. Work, groceries, cooking, laundry, kids, cleaning, yardwork, and oh, don’t forget your self-care AND having fun!
Sometimes it is hard to even have the time to get all your stuff done let alone “give away” your time, but let me ask you this… when was the last time you volunteered some of your time (even if it was just for a few minutes) to help someone else?
This week is Vacation Bible School at our church for children aged pre-K to the 5th grade. There are 70 children attending this year and 30+ volunteers from youth to seniors. VBS could not happen without them.
It is so awesome to see them all doing their part to make this VBS a success and the biggest payoff is to hear the laughter and to see the smiles and the joy on the faces of not just the kids, but all the volunteers too!
What a positive difference helping others makes!
Don’t have a lot of time and are unable to spend a whole morning volunteering? How about a few minutes?
Volunteering your time can be as easy as… offering to help put someone’s groceries in their car, getting something off the top shelf for someone who can’t quite reach, asking your elderly neighbor if they need some help with… whatever.
My challenge for you this week is to take a moment of your time and give someone a helping hand.
The world needs more helping hands and loving hearts!
