Simple Joy

In the midst of all the horrific events, difficult decisions, the stress, the anguish, and reality of how difficult life really is, I have re-discovered the power of “simple joy”.

Finding simple joy in simple moments has to be intentional and purposeful, but it is not difficult.

How do I find the simple joy?

I look out into my backyard and notice - really notice with an intentional pause and deep breath - the blooming flowers. 

Right now some of the Asian Lilies are blooming. Spectacular.

It was the rose bush a while back and the azaleas earlier in March.

Finding the beauty in these simple blooms and being in awe of their unique colors and shapes, helps me find my simple joy and for a moment the horrors and the sadness of the world are diminished. 

And in these simple moments, I have found some Peace. Hope. Resilience. Simple Joy.

This is NOT a one time event. I take these moments as often as I can and in their simple beauty, I find my simple joy.

This week my friend, I encourage you to find your moments of simple joy or at least moments to reset, recharge, and relax your body and mind. 

The one thing we can control is how we react to life - whether it is with purpose and intention to find joy or to be swept up and consumed by the horrors of life.

I choose to find the simple joy and keep moving forward with purpose and intention (and no, it is not always easy) and my hope is you are able to do the same.

It takes a community and the support and love of many. I am so grateful for all of you in my community through these difficult times.
