Yesterday was World Mental Health Day.
The struggle is real!
More and more individuals are dealing with mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, suicide ideation AND not getting the care they need because they are afraid of having that difficult conversation.
This week I want to call your attention to a great non-profit organization I found out about almost 10 years ago and have since become a storyteller and ambassador with them.
Mental Health America, MHA, has numerous resources for those dealing with mental health challenges themselves or as family members.
The resources include tips on staying mentally healthy, mental health screening tools, and self-help tools along with being a resource for finding help.
My self-care mission for you this week has a few options to choose from so please pick the most appropriate one for YOU:
> take a few minutes of quiet time today to ask yourself, “Am I OK?” and assess how your mental health is doing. Start a conversation with a loved one about how you are feeling.
> not sure if you are dealing with a mental health challenge, use one of the many mental health screening tools to help you understand better why you feel the way you do. Print it out and take it to the doctor with you to start the conversation.
> if you are dealing with a mental health challenge and need to talk to someone, and a friend or family member is not available, you can call a warmline - click on this link for numbers in your area.
> are you or someone you love in a mental health crisis? Call 988 or one of the many crisis help centers. Click here for the numbers.
> start a conversation with someone you care about that seems to be struggling.
Make a difference in your life or someone else’s life - start talking about mental health.
This is a shout-out to Andrea, Kathy, Kevin, and the many more that work and volunteer with MHA. THANK YOU for all you do!!!
Hugs, Rita ❤
