The holiday season is just starting and I already feel like I am on overload… and it’s NOT even December yet!
This quote was shared during our church service on Sunday (thank you Pastor Marianne!) and it resonated with me on many levels.
The words expectations and pressure of feeling a certain way jumped out at me and made me stop for a moment and think about all the unrealistic expectations surrounding the holidays.
Do you feel the same way about unrealistic holiday expectations?
Do you have some great childhood memories or less than favorable ones? Have the last 3 years taken a toll on your mental, physical, and spiritual health and you hope that will all disappear with the holiday cheer being thrown at you? Or maybe you would just rather curl up in a fuzzy blanket and let the holidays slide by?
All of these are valid and OK to be feeling
I love these words Scott Erickson shares with us in the quote…
What if this season isn’t about accomplishing anything at all? What if it could be an invitation to really see our lives for the way they are?
Blessed and complicated.
Grateful and sad.
A miracle and suffering.
What if it’s in this honesty we are surprised to find the Divine there.
I invite you this week to start letting go of expectations, entitlements, and the pressure of feeling a certain way during this holiday season. AND please, be gentle with yourself to focus on doing some great self-care to feed YOU and YOUR soul.
Big Hugs, Rita 🙂
