Why is self-care NOT selfish and SO very important to health?
Let's start with the definition of self-care.
Self-care is defined as any intentional action you take to take care of your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
By taking care of YOU (also known as self-care), you build up your resilience.
Resilience is your ability to cope with everyday stressors in a healthy productive manner. The more resilient you are, the better you are able to continue to function in a healthy productive way in spite of all the challenges that life throws at you.
In the next 8 weeks, I will be presenting the 8 different areas of wellness that contribute to your overall wellness and good health.
By working on each area - one per week, you will be sliding simple self-care into your busy schedules with very little effort AND most importantly, building up your resilience!
So, NO… self-care is NOT selfish as it is the best way to increase our resilience and continue to face all our challenges and stressors in a healthy productive manner maintaining a good quality of life.
This week be intentional with your simple self-care and slide in an extra pause to enjoy the scenery or take a few minutes to have a dance party for one in your house or look in the mirror and tell yourself, “I AM WORTH IT!”
