Meet Rita

Rita Garnto

Because my personal journey has been filled with the challenges of infertility, adoption, family death, and chronic health issues, I am no stranger to the detrimental effects of stress. Based on my own health struggles plus 36 years of healthcare experience, I have developed my own self-care philosophy and the steps to obtain a better quality of health using simple self-care.

I retired from massage therapy after 16 years of private practice and am now educating and speaking on the dangers of stress and providing simple self-care solutions to combat the negative effects of stress.

Prior to opening my private massage practice in 2004, I said good-bye to a 20-year career in western healthcare as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. This great career gave me the opportunity to work, not only in Canada, where I was born, but also in Saudi Arabia, and here in the United States.

I have cared for patients ranging in age from premature babies to the elderly and everyone in between. During this lengthy career, I also had the privilege of being part of the trauma flight team at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. This role allowed me to gain the unique experience of caring for critically ill patients during transport flights on helicopters and airplanes.

My focus has always been on helping people. Over time I have come to understand how important, or even just lessening, a health crisis is crucial to achieving a better overall quality of life. I saw massage therapy as the way to do this and thus became a licensed massage therapist and began my journey into the world of holistic healthcare.

Over time, my mission has evolved into focusing on improving the health and life of busy women and their families, simply and without overwhelm.

The vast variety of my training, work and life experience has given me an unique skill set that has shaped me into a truly unique self-care practitioner, simple self-care expert, and stress management education.

Rita’s mantra is “Take care of your body! It is the only one you will ever own.” She wants women and men to understand how powerful just one small change can be and how large of an impact it can have on their future health and well-being.

I share my story and philosophy through my book, “Simple Self-Care Saved Me!“, paid speaking, and a variety of interactive presentations and workshops.

By sharing my story of perseverance and self-care, I hope to inspire and show others how to put themselves on the TOP of their to-do lists with their simple self-care choices.

Simply stated, self-care is about
self-preservation
NOT self-indulgence.
