Acceptance on face value seems like a relatively simple word. According to Merriam-Webster, acceptance is the quality or state of being accepted or acceptable. Simple enough, right?!

So, why is it so hard to accept me for me and let all the other crap and expectations go? The other day, I looked at myself in the mirror and wondered what would happen if I accepted my body just the way it is? What if I let go all those self-imposed negative expectations? What if I just accepted me for me and accepted all my lumps, bumps, and wrinkles that are a part of who I am?

Wow! That’s a concept. Self-love. Self-acceptance. Imagine all that energy that can be diverted from the negative to positive from constant self-criticism to self-acceptance?

The crazy thing about self-acceptance is that we forget that the ones that love and care about us, already accept us for who we are. Like the song says, they accept and “love all of our curves and all of our edges. Love our perfect imperfections.” Period.

What are we waiting for? Accept yourself! 🙂
